Beat Hazard – WHOA!!!

At this point time my my music collection just broke the 2100+ songs point and every month I add on about 30 songs a month with by eMusic subscription. It’s a great thing since I found so many good bands including (*deep breath*):

Mostly Bears, The Most Serene Republic, Balmorhea, Woodpigeon, Emily Barker, Little Black Dress, The Last 3 Lines, Hiawata!, Viva Voce, Jonathan Coulton, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Audioslave, Muse, Halou, Broken Social Scene, Stripmall Architecture, Coldplay, The Lord Henry, Ra Ra Riot, Blonde Redhead

But like all good things and donuts, there’s only so much you can have, so I was starting to feel a little burnt out. Anyway back to the point of my post, Beat Hazard was one of the games I bought amongst the dozens of indie packs Steam had on sale. Beat Hazard one of the dual stick shooters (another being Everyday Shooter) that puts an emphasis on the music playing in the background. When the tempo is high it’s a bullet hell and when there’s nearly no sound there’s nearly no enemies.

The first track I put on with it was “Robin” by Little Black Dress and once the song got to the heavy guitar rifts and I was shooting off 6 streams of light killing power with the beat hazard super mode on—Holy Shit! Does this game have light particles! It’s a lot like watching a fireworks show right on your screen and it never stops. It’s really just a gorgeous game with enough mechanics to feed my high score lust, and this has definitely got me interested in listening to whole albums again.
